A Braid Story…
Jasmine* is a girl who lights up when you approach her and talk to her, ask her questions, or engage with her. When you put her in a peer group, she wanders to the outskirts and sits alone, talking quietly to herself or sketching. Her attendance at Braid has always been spotty for this reason, but sometimes we catch glimpses of her bright and boisterous personality.
She ended up at Braid Local Camp by a fluke (also known as the Holy Spirit) – her mom signed her up for summer school and when she got there, she wasn’t on the list so she was immediately able to go to camp instead. Jasmine spearheaded the silly song and freestyle rap movement all week, pulled others in and found peer connections, and cheerfully trooped through all the outdoor adventures (even when single kayaking turned out to be harder than she thought). She came alive. This is the power of the Spirit, to do more than we can ask or imagine
