A Hoop Time Story…

Jay* has always been serious about playing basketball. He understands the greatness of God, but struggles with his efforts to honor God and others. During camp, he shared that he often attends church and youth group, but still struggles with the free gift of the cross versus his understanding of earning God’s favor through his efforts. When I sat with him to discuss this, I said that the message of the cross is that we’ll never be able to earn God’s favor. Instead, we believe by faith that Jesus’ death was the penalty for our sins. Jay nodded in agreement and commented that he needs to take his faith more seriously. I will continue to pray for Jay and also plan to follow up with him about putting Jesus on the throne of his heart. Please join me in praying for Jay.
