Father’s Heart

A Satisfied Story…

It was during Adventure Camp in the Beartooth Mountains of Wyoming this past summer, where I witnessed God at work in many ways, but specifically in the restoration of a relationship between a father and son.

YFC vehicles traveling all the way from Minnesota were rolling up the mountainous dirt roads, loaded with teenage boys and a few brave adults, ready for a full week of adventure! A handful of these boys, stumbling out of the vans, can be found back in Minnesota flying off the ramps in the indoor skatepark at YFC during nights of Satisfied, our skate ministry program. As the vehicle doors open up, skateboards and scooters are falling out, while fist-bumps and big smiles are exchanged between the teens and adults awaiting them… a special moment!

So many teens can’t wait for Adventure Camp! This particular summer, a Satisfied volunteer whose teenage son participates in Satisfied, came to serve at camp with us. His father’s heart was deeply tender but also hopeful, as he vulnerably shared about his current relationship with his son and asked for prayer for their week at camp together. As the week of camp went on, this father and son had a lot of quality time together and God was at work in both their hearts. Today, their father-son relationship continues to grow in many ways as they walk with God and I know our Heavenly Father rejoices deeply.
