A Volunteer Story…
We love taking kids on road trips… to the mountains of Wyoming, to the shores of Lake Superior, to the Twin Cities, to Cuyuna Lakes, and all around Central MN! This summer, we at CMYFC, will put on a total of over 20,000 miles transporting teenagers. The time we spend together in groups as we travel in vehicles is priceless. Stories, confessions, jokes, questions, games, and insights converge over the road to create a melting pot of relational equity from which each of us draw deeply. We love it.
Have you ever thought about what it takes to do this safely?
The factors for safe and effective transport of kids are many, but perhaps the two most important are: reliable vehicles and reliable adult leaders. Our Central MN Wheels team keeps both these values in view as they faithfully teach kids the basics of auto mechanics and faithfully service and repair our small fleet of YFC vehicles. They are an amazing gift to us.
Bruce, Ken, Bob, Sam, and Henry have volunteered in our YFC shop for a combined total of over 35 years. Their backgrounds in mechanics are extensive and varied, and their hearts for God and for kids run even deeper. They pay careful attention to details both as mechanics and as relational ministry practitioners. In short, they serve faithfully using the gifts God has given… for the Kingdom.
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” Romans 12:6-8
