A Braid Volunteer Story…

At YFC, August and September look like a sweet balance of exhale and rest as well as inhale and gear up for this next school year. The exhale is filled with gratitude and story sharing as we reflect on God’s faithfulness in the lives of our teenagers and our adult leaders this summer. The inhale means gathering up our adults and re-upping together for a new school year of praying, being on mission, holistically loving teenagers, and inviting them into a life long journey of following Jesus.

Debbie moved to the St. Cloud area six years ago, and quickly got invited to serve as an adult leader at Braid. With a bit of timidity, Debbie said yes and has truly found her way into the hearts of our Braid girls. Debbie is in her 70s and I think if asked she would say initially she wasn’t sure she had anything to offer to these young girls, but the girls she has invested in would say that is so far from the truth. Debbie invites a group of teenage girls into her home weekly for Supper Club, she leads a small group Bible study with a few girls, she shows up at their musical performances, she courageously shares her story at winter camp, and she shows up weekly to programming with the girls. Through all of this she makes each of these girls feel seen, known and loved by her and in doing so she beautifully points them to the God who sees, knows and loves them even better.

Thank you, Debbie, for pouring into this next generation of teenagers–your investment matters deeply and we are so grateful for you.
