Car Time

Friends-

Here are some excerpts from last June’s newsletter–”We love taking kids on road trips… to the mountains of Wyoming, to the shores of Lake Superior, to the Twin Cities, to Cuyuna Lakes, and all around Central MN! This summer, we at CMYFC, will put on a total of over 20,000 miles transporting teenagers. The time we spend together in groups as we travel in vehicles is priceless. Stories, confessions, jokes, questions, games, and insights converge over the road to create a melting pot of relational equity from which each of us draw deeply.”

Well here we are again and those words are just as true as they were a year ago! Car time once again became sacred space recently as I sat with a young lady who had just said her final goodbye to her big sister who passed away from brain cancer. As I drove her home, she shared memories of her sister, what she was going to miss deeply, and what it will be like to see her again someday in Heaven. We talked about how it’s ok to feel deep grief one moment and joy in the next moment and how those two things can coexist together. This young lady is on a journey, and camp will be a part of her story again this summer. Lots more car time to come.

Our mission is as critical as ever, and gas prices have never been higher. And so we are trusting God with you for the adventures ahead.

By God’s grace, we’ll be on the road again this summer!
